Wild Words - The Poetry of Plants
Bringing words to life in the wild...

Welcome to Wild Words online area
Our Wild Words session and pages are inspired by 'The Lost Words' book by the writer Robert Macfarlane and artist Jackie Morris. They responded to the loss of nature words from the junior dictionary, such as acorn, bluebell and blackberry, by creating a beautiful illustrated ‘book of spells’ - poems and paintings designed to help us keep these nature words alive in our language and hearts. A free copy of this book was given to all Scottish schools in 2018.
We have created this online area to act as a resource guide for teachers to use in order to enhance both yours and your pupils' learning experience of our Wild Words session. Feel free to pick and choose the resources you would like to do and these can be done before and/or after your class's guided session in the Garden. If you're not booked onto our guided session, all the resources stand on their own and will bring a little bit of the Wild Words to you!
For more information about our Wild Words guided session see the Teacher Info Sheet or go to our website to discover our current programme offerings (both links open in a new window/tab).
